Emma Melkerson, President
Emma's career with Northwest Arctic Borough School District began in 2011 when she moved to Kivalina from Washington after accepting a 3rd/4th Grade teaching position. Since then Emma has taught multiple elementary grade levels as well as secondary english for like a week (not her favorite job!). Emma has worked with NAEA in various roles from serving on the bargaining team, NEA-AK Delegate, Treasurer, and most recently being appointed as President.
Emma believes in working collaboratively with district and site leadership but is willing to hold their feet to the fire to advocate for members. Our students and educators deserve the best.
