Bargaining Update

On Tuesday, September 13th the bargaining team met to finalize their proposal for the District. On Wednesday, September 14th, the team met with Terry Martin and the district's attorney for 5.5 hours. We had good discussion and we are expecting to hear back from the district after the School Board meets in October.

The Associations proposal included language changes in the following areas:

• Classroom Visitation
• Non-Instructional Duties
• Professional Development
• Labor Management Relations
• Assignment/non-retention and Dismissal
• Teacher’s Certificate
• Standard Work Week
• Meeting after school
  • Parent Teacher conferences
  • ​IEP’s
• Sick Leave – Doctor’s Note
• Housing
• Extra Duty Contracts
• Salary

The items that were brought to the table by the Association were driven in large part by the surveys you submitted last year. The Association believes that your working conditions are the student’s learning conditions and we are committed to make changes in the contract that will help improve the conditions under which you work. Once we hear back from the District the team plan to meet and prepare for the next bargaining session. We have talked with NAEA leadership about holding a General Membership Meeting in late October or early November to provide an update on the status of the bargain. Thanks for your continued support.
